What is PoloTips?

Reader comments:

Dear Mr. del Carril,

I just got your book on Saturday and it is wonderful! I only wish I had your book when I started taking English riding lessons. Thank you. I have been reading it every night and it is giving me some good visualizations I plan my first polo lessons. I only wish every sport had someone like you to break it down for easy introduction.

As a result of “Essential Tips-POLO”, which had incredible acceptance in the polo community around the world, and is selling an average of 1000 copies a year since its publication, Justo del Carril thought of expanding his teaching techniques, writing more tips and articles and developing accessories that help players improve their game.

That is how PoloTips was created, trademark to all of Justo del Carril’s designs and developments, orientated exclusively to the improvement of different polo teaching methods, which are created by Justo from ideas during his own experiences while teaching polo.

I think the Grip of the mallet  is of key importance in polo, as in many other sports.  And is one of the most common mistakes and bad habit I see in new players. Therefore, I pay a lot of attention to the Grip, and and develop ideas, tips, examples, comparisons, on how to grip the mallet properly.  The chapter of The Grip in my book is very detailed, and most of my new tips are related to the Grip, ej. Perfect Grip Glove Tip.

Our Vision

We feel that very little attention  has been given to the instruction of polo. It is a difficult sport, there is no doubt about that. However, there are methods that can be used and practiced to help any player improve their game, at their own personal pace and rhythm, and to the point of their own personal ambition in the sport.

“It is a great challenge for me meet someone on the first day of a polo clinic, and get to know them really well, to the point where I can detect their strengths and their flaws. That is what I then use to teach each person how to achieve what it is they are looking to do. By using other sports they might practice, by watching them and noticing that maybe a trick with some other part of their body might help their swing for example. By giving simple, everyday methods and examples, one can explain easily something that is considered very complicated even before starting.”

Our Mission

Polo, the most ancient organized team sport in the world, has captured the imagination of participants for over 2500 years. Once the sport of warriors and princes, polo is quite a game-perhaps the ultimate game. It combines all the elements for perfect sport: horses and riders, mallets and a ball, strong teamwork, versatility, courage and remarkable stamina. Our mission is to help achieve the best in all, and have a great time doing so!!
